CAMPING!!

Last weekend we went camping with some friends from church. We went to George L. Smith State Park outside of Metter or in Twin City GA. We had a great time!
--- We camped in the Pioneer sight which has two water spigots and no electricity and is in the middle of the woods, far away from the other camp sites. The bathroom facilities are"pit" toilets or ...an outhouse. It is a group sight.---

Everyone was exhausted when we got home!

These are all the kids that went on the camping trip.

Next: Madison holding Abigail, Morgan,Charlie holding Lehne, Mason and Cade

It had great picnic area right in the middle of the sight.

We got a little worried when we had to travel down this path to get to our sight.

But after all the traveling to the campsite down a couple of paths this is what we came upon.(Minus the people at the time) It was very private we were the only ones out there.

This was our families home for the weekend.

Some of the other families slept in these "cabins" which are basically screened in porches minus the house. Really cool!

There were two cabins and four tent pads with a common area in the middle that had the picnic tables and the fire ring.

The sight was basically a clearing in the woods.

Scott and Tyler getting ready to go fishing. We had a total of four canoes there and we had our own private boat launch.

This is the "facilities."

Lulu coming back from the bathroom notice she has a lantern. You had to have a light with you because you wanted to make sure there were no critters that were joining you.

This is the inside of the bathroom.Yes that's all.

See the hole in the door that's why you take the flashlight, plus it's kind of dark in there.

This is the path down to our boat launch.(I think Lulu is pouting about something.)

At the end of the path we found a big gopher tortoise. They are protected and you don't find them real often.

Notice the plate under his neck that helped us to identify him as a gopher tortoise.
After all the kids got the chance to see him the boys took him back to his home.

We had lot of great food while we were there even watermelon which I think Cade enjoyed!
more watermelon eating
Lulu found a new friend. Dalton thought she was great.
